PORTRAITS BY ARRANGED SITTING
|
Step 1
Choose a favorite photograph; for oil or pastel the photograph MUST be in color, MUST be clear, Not in Shadow, and a good view of the subject. For Charcoal, the photograph can be in Black & White. If you need assistance in your selection, just contact the artist via her website. Photographs should be 8 x 10" preferable, or 5 x 7" if necessary.
Step 2
Upon initiation of your commissioned portrait, after photographs are selected, attach via email for assistance in selection, and then via regular mail between 2 pieces of cardboard to:
Fine Art & Portraiture, Inc.
2706 W. 85th Place
Chicago, IL 60652
In addition, send back a signed copy of one Agreement Form along with your 50% deposit for the portrait. (You will receive an email attachment of the Commissioned Portrait Agreement Form and you will print out 2, Two, copies and keep one for your records.)
Step 3
In phone discussions and emails with the artist, determine the following:
A. Type of portrait: Head & Shoulders, 3/4 Length, or Full Length
B. Medium of the portrait: Oil, Pastel, or Charcoal.
(Oil Requires the most time to complete; Pastel requires glass or plexiglass in framing as does Charcoal. Pastel, depending on size and number of subjects, requires about 2 weeks to a month to complete; Charcoal requires 1 to 2 weeks to complete.)
C. How many subjects will be in your portrait?
(It may be one subject or several subjects.)
D. Price of your portrait; depending on the number of subjects, the medium, and framing requirements will determine both the price and size of your portrait. These factors will also determine the completion time of the portrait. Refer to the Commissioned Price List below
Step 4
Upon completion of your portrait, the artist will contact you to arrange for delivery of your portrait. A photograph of the portrait will be sent at completion for your approval and review. If adjustments need to be made; in most cases the artist will accommodate. If shipping is required, this fee will be included at the time of contact and the portrait will be shipped to you or delivered to you once the 50% balance is received.
|
Step 1
A Preliminary interview will be set up between client and artist to determine the following: Type of portrait: Head and Shoulders, 3/4 Length, Full Length; Medium: Oil, Pastel, or Charcoal. Size and Price of the portrait and approximate completion date. The attire to be worn by the subject will also be determined.
Step 2
Most portraits require 2, 3-hour sittings, if done in Oil, but for a 3/4 pose or full-Length pose, such as a bridal portrait, those may require 3 or more sittings, depending on detail of attire.
Step 3
An Agreement Form with all the agreed upon terms of the portrait including the sitting dates and times, price, medium and type of portrait with completion date and shipping costs, and travel and lodging expense for the artist if the sitting is out of town, will be outlined in the Agreement. The Client will sign this Form and submit a 50% deposit for the portrait. A copy of this Agreement will be given to the Client for their records. If sitting dates need to be rescheduled, this can be done EXCEPT for out of town arrangements. Please refer to the Price List below.
Step 4
The artist will call the client upon completion of the portrait to arrange a presentation of the portrait, any adjustments, and then the 50% balance of the portrait price will be due. Before this presentation, a photograph will be sent of the portrait to the client. Please direct any questions you may have about the portrait process to the artist on her website at the home page under "Contact the Artist". Should the client decide they do not wish to continue with the portrait after it has begun, the artist will retain the 50% deposit for work done. Thank you for your interest!

"The sensitive encounters implicit to portraiture are unique in the world of painting, says Daniel F. Greene (a contemporary portrait master). "'An artist deals with the highly personal form of reproducing an image of another human being. . . The portrait will be perpetuated for untold centuries, embodying the appearance of the subject and the artistry of the painter.' "
